Most patients that undergo this type of surgery find that they are happier and more self-confident than they were before.

Medical Reasons

Often, someone may choose a cosmetic surgery procedure due to medical reasons. Breast reduction surgery is a great example. In woment hat are particularly busty, back pain can become so severe that some of the breast tissue must be removed to prevent severe back issues from developing. A nose job, similarly, could be performed to elminate chronic sinus infections or improve quality of sleep in individuals with a deviated septum. On top of these examples, some people also have reconstructive surgery after severe accidents. In many cases, the cosmetic surgery is necessary for the patient's survival.

There are risks involved

Since everyone is different, the recovery could take any number of directions. While Mary may never be able to feel her cheeck again due to a botched face lift, Linda may come out perfectly unharmed.

Psychological Rejection

An uncommon con of having cosmetic surgery is the fact the after the procedure the patient may have difficulty coming to grips with their new look. Believe it or not, this is just as common in patients with great results as those with less than an ideal outcome. Some patients expect miracles when they go for cosmetic surgery  It can only lead to disappointment.  Talk your doctor before the surgery and ask him what kind of results you can realistically expect from the procedure.

Any surgical procedure has pros and cons. While the benefits can be enormous, so can the risks. If you are going to be having cosmetic surgery, do as much research as you possibly can. It's a big decision to make.
